Compatibility 'A&G Soluzioni Digitali' assures compatibility and provides support only for equipment that has been tested and approved. For a list of computers approved by A&G, please refer to the latest information on compatibility available on this site. A&G Registration Make sure that you have filled and mailed or faxed the included registration card. Registered users are entitled to free technical assistance for a year. They will receive regular software updates and will be advised about promotions and special events. For any question on the X-Spat system, you can contact A&G at the following e-mail address: info@aegweb.it Connection and Configuration of X-Spat system The X-Spat system consists of a preinstalled A&G -X-Series Spatialisation Card, and a AD/DA 8 channel Apogee Electronics Rosetta800/96 converter. ![]() View of the Rosetta 800s back panel with an X-Spat card installed. To the left are LED 8 (above) and 9 (below). The LEDs have two colours: LED 8 (STATUS), if the green light is permanently on, indicates correct operation; if the green light is flashing, it indicates that there is no valid connection (i.e. interface is not configured, drivers are not installed, etc.); if the light is red, the card must be repaired. LED 9 (ACTIVITY) a green light comes on for around 500 ms, if the system is back in sync or if a recognised MIDI has been received (see MIDI Implementation Chart). The same LED 9 (UNLOCK) comes on with a red light for around 500 ms if the system goes out of sync. To the right are LED 10 (above) and 11 (below), also in two colours. LED 10 flashes a green light if the internal DSPs have booted up correctly and are therefore available. If one of the LEDs to the right, comes on with a red light, call technical support. Use the adapter provided in the X-Spat package to connect the MIDI IN port to the right of the Firewire ports, to the MIDI interface of your computer. If you are using the Firewire audio connection, this will also provide a two way MIDI port, which can be selected directly from inside your MIDI compatible software. If you can choose between the ports, we advice you to always favour the MIDI IN port in the X-Spat panel. This has been tested and certified by A&G as perfectly compatible with any MIDI interface external to the system, whereas, especially in a Mac OS X environment, the Firewire MIDI port is subject to the modifications that Apple may make to its Firewire driver. The number of real time parameters available varies according to the sampling frequency of the Rosetta 800. Contact your A&G dealer or visit the Website http://xspat.aegweb.com for updated information on the recommended system requirements. The minimal system requirements to operate the X-Spat system differ according to the configuration of the system and of the platform. To install in Windows XP they are: a computer with a Pentium III processor and 800 Mhz or more with at least 256 MB RAM, a free 400 Firewire port and a CD-ROM reader; Windows XP Professional or Home Studio both exclusively with Service Pack 1. With Mac OS X they are: a computer with an Apple Macintosh G4 processor at 800 MHz or more with at least 256 MB RAM, a free 400 Firewire port and a CD-ROM reader; version 10.3.5 Mac OS X or superior. Connect and Set up X-Spat The first step is to install the X-Spat drivers. NB. Proceed to next step directly if you are installing X-Spat Controller for Mac OS X. When the program opens, select Next to continue. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. The Installer will guide you through the installation procedure. The second step is to install the software for the configuration and control of X-Spat. The software is not protected by a copy and an updated version is always available in the X-Spat site at this address: http://www.aegweb.it/html/html_interne/downloadsD.html At the same address you will also find various files for the configuration and control, which will allow you to use X-Spat with your favourite audio sequencer. In the following chapters you will find the necessary instructions for their correct utilization. To install the X-Spat software for Windows XP: Switch your computer on. Introduce the A&G Software Collection CD-ROM. Identify the X-Spat Installer application and double click on it. When the program opens, select OK to continue. The Installer will ask you to select the drive in which to install the software of X-Spat. Select your Startup drive. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. The third and last step is to connect the card to the computers Firewire interface. NB. You have already done this step if you are installing X-Spat Controller for Windows XP. To connect an X-Spat system via Firewire: Connect one of the Firewire ports in the X-Spat card installed in Rosetta 800, to the computers Firewire connector. Always switch on the Rosetta 800 first and then the computer. Whichever the operative system in use, at this stage you will have to set the desired sources in and out of the converter on the front panel of the Rosetta 800; for example, select Option in both cases if you want to input and output the computer via Firewire while, at the same time, you want to use the analogical outputs. When both the units have completed the set up procedure, you will be able to use your X-Spat system. In case of any difficulty please refer to this manual and, if necessary, to the trouble shooting section. |
